Hartson Is Shire Target

EAST STIRLING have launched an audacious bid to land former Celtic and Wales striker John Hartson as their next boss.

Hartson met the Shire's owner Spencer Fearn yesterday for almost an hour of talks.

Fearn said last night: "John is really keen andwe had a great chat after he worked for Setanta on their game yesterday.

"He's going back down to Swansea and we'll know on Tuesday whether or not he's taken the job."

Fearn joked: "It would be nice to persuade him to play and he could terrorise Third Division defences!

"Seriously this could be a big move for us and his first step into management. I will keep talking to him this week."
