Elgin 3-1 Forfar

SUPER Steven MacKay's second-half double kept Elgin's play-off hopes alive.

The visitors were dealt a blow when Martyn Fotheringham injured himself and had to be replaced by Chris Anton after just two minutes.

The Loons had a great chance to open the scoring when captain John Fraser won a penalty after being fouled by Allan Dempsie but Fraser's effort was saved by Ally Ridgers.

City took the lead two minutes after the break when Craig Campbell played a quick one-two with David Niven and volleyed home. But it took Forfar just nine minutes to level. Elliot Smith's low ball to the back post was tapped in by Martin Grehan.

Elgin edged back in front in 65 minutes when MacKay netted from the spot after Craig Frizzel was fouled by John Ovenstone.

And MacKay wrapped it up 15 minutes from time when he sent a delightful 20-yard chip over keeper Sandy Wood and into the net.
