Arbroath 2-1 Montrose

A BRILLIANT free-kick by Scott McBride was the difference in a closely fought Angus derby.

Arbroath had the wind at their backs and took advantage in 11 minutes as keeper Darren Hill's long kick went to Bryan Scott who lashed home.

And it was 2-0 in 31 minutes when McBride curled home a perfect 25-yard free-kick.

In 77 minutes Montrose sub Roddy Hunter headed home a Stephen Black free-kick.

Arbroath gaffer John McGlashan said: "Being a derby, made the win more sweet."

Montrose's Jim Weir said: "We are making too many basic errors."
