MONTROSE boss Jim Weir hailed his Link Park troops as they kept on course for the play-offs.
After the match he declared: "The first 45 minutes were the bestwe have played since I came to the club."
Montrose took the lead after five minutes when Stephen Black crossed for Garry Wood to score.
Wood went off with a groin injury in 27 minutes, but two minutes later his replacement, Roddy Hunter, headed home a Black corner to notch his first goal for the club.
Dumbarton's Grant Evans was sent off for a foul on Steven Doris in 59 minutes and Hunter made it 3-0 10 minutes later before Michael Moore grabbed a consolation goal for the Sons.
Dumbarton No.2 Alan Adamson said: "I can't fault my players for effort."
