FORFAR boss Jim Moffat insisted his side did not deserve to lose and labelled Stranraer's winner a fluke.
Moffat watched in despair as former Station Park ace Gregory Tade fired the the home side ahead and Andrew Gibson extended their lead - before Bryan Duell pulled one back.
Moffat said: "We defended poorly at the corner they scored their first from.
"And the second was one of those fluke goals that puts you right on the back foot."
Having lost boss Gerry Britton to Partick Thistle last Friday, Stranraer called on Derek Ferguson to lead the club until a new gaffer is found.
And the former Rangers ace admitted he was pleased with the result - if not the performance.
Ferguson said: "The players could have performed better but the conditions were never going to make for a good game."
Gerry McLauchlan set up Tade to net the the home side's spectacular opener in 14 minutes.
And Gibson's 77th minute deflected shot made it two.
But Duell halved Stanraer's lead after collecting a loose ball on the right and blasting home.
However, Forfar's afternoon failed to get any better when Chris Anton sawred for two fouls on Tade in the space of a minute.
