TWO moments of magic from John Baird dumped Albion to keep Montrose in second place.
The striker got on the end of Stephen Black's cross from the left to head the Gable Endies into the lead in 10 minutes.
Baird almost grabbed a second six minutes later when he forced a fine save from David Scott.
Montrose made it 2-0 right on half-time when Baird superbly killed a Keith Gibson cross and teed up Steven Doris to net.
Rovers got one back when Ciaran Donnelly headed home a Jamie McKenzie free-kick
Montrose boss Jim Weir said: "We won thanks to two bits of brilliance from Baird."
Albion manager John McCormack said: "I can't fault my lads for their effort."
