SECOND-HALF strikes from Gregory Tade and Iain Cashmore dumped Dumbarton as the Blues kept their promotion push on track.
The away team took control early on and Stranraer had keeper Scott Black to thank for denying Brian McPhee twice in the first 10 minutes.
Black saved his side again five minutes after the break with a great stop from Fergus Tiernan after McPhee teed up the midfielder.
Tade fired Stranraer ahead in 58 minutes, rising at the back post to head home Michael Mullen's cross.
Cashmore grabbed No.2 seven minutes from time, latching on to a Stephen McConalogue cross to beat Anton Nugent from a narrow angle.
Stranraer boss Gerry Britton said: "Our keeper kept us in the game, then when we got the opportunities we took them."
Sons manager Jim Chapman said: "The players gave me everything they had and it showedwe are going in the right direction."
