GUTTED Allan Maitland was left to rue Wasps' inability to score as they crashed to defeat.
Paul Harkins struck 15 minutes from time to give Queen's the points but Alloa had controlled most of the match - much to the frustration of manager Maitland.
He said: "We dominated for long periods but failed to take our chances.
"We conceded a poor goal and lost another game despite playing well which has left us in a relegation dog fight."
A Jamie Stevenson free-kick comfortably saved by Spiders keeper David Crawford was the closest either team came to a first-half breakthrough.
Crawford was in action again after the interval, denying Iain Campbell before tipping a Brown Crawford effort on to the bar.
Queen's almost went in front with their first chance as Anthony Quinn's 20-yard drive flew wide.
Two minutes later there was no mistake as Harkins sent a low finish past Raymond Jellema.
Alloa almost salvaged a point at the death but Crawford pulled off another fine stop to keep out Chris Townsley's strike.
Spiders boss Gardner Speirs said: "We didn't play as well as we can but took our chances to secure an important win."
