BRECHIN boss Michael O'Neill couldn't stop smiling after his side turned on the style to brush aside Rovers.
First half goals from David White and Michael Paton sealed an impressive victory that had O'Neill gushing with praise.
He said: "I was delighted with both the victory and our display.
"The scoreline did not flatter us and we played some outstanding football.
"You're always wary at 2-0 that a team of Raith's quality could come back at you.
"But we saw the game out well and we played some great stuff from middle to front."
Brechin announced their intent in nine minutes when Paton forced Rovers keeper Gary O'Connor to pull off a superb save at a post.
However, the opener came when White rose to power in Neil Janczyk's corner.
Brechin dominated the rest of the half but had to wait until two minutes from the break to bag their second.
Janczyk played in Gary Twigg whose cross was smashed in by the on-rushing Paton.
Raith boss John McGlynn had no complaints saying: "Brechin deserved their victory and we were lucky they didn't win by a greater margin."
