AYR hitman Bryan Prunty would have laughed his head off if someone had said he'd rattle in seven goals by September.
But the former Celtic, Aberdeen and Inverness Caley Thistle frontman puts his sparkling form down to a new lease of life at Somerset Park.
The 24-year-old was left out in the cold by Airdrie last season but reckons if the goals keep coming he can get back to top-level football.
He will spearhead Brian Reid's attack today against Brechin and Prunty said: "If anyone had said I would have scored seven goals by this stage of the season, I'd have told them they were talking rubbish.
"I'm just pleased to be playing again. The manager gave me a chance and hopefully I'm paying him back now.
"I was out of the picture at Airdrie. I was playing out of position and felt I should have been more involved.
"This is a fresh start and I'm thoroughly enjoying it - that's shown by my goals.
"I'm confident in my own ability. A lot was expected of me as a kid and I've had a few knocks along the way.
"But I believe one day I can get back to the big time."
Today's top-of-the-table game at Somerset is vital for both sides and Prunty expects it to be a cracker.
He said: "It's a massive game for us but Brechin will come here thinking they can win.
"They're one of the best part-time teams around."
