Arbroath 1-2 Stirling Albion

DAVID MCKENNA was the hero as battling Albion came from behind to snatch a vital win. Scott Gates netted Arbroath's opener before a quickfire reply from John O'Neill had them level.

McKenna then snatched it with a fine effort before Gayfield's Mark Docherty saw red.

Stirling enjoyed the best of the early chances but it was the home side who took the lead after 20 minutes.

John Fraser delivered a great ball to Gates who held off David Lowing to fire in.

But less than five minutes later, O'Neill had the Binos level.

Ian Harty rifled in an effort from inside the area and O'Neill turned it home.

The visitors took the lead eight minutes after the break - McKenna pounced to lob Darren Hill after a mix-up in the home defence.

The game erupted in the 56th minute when Barry Sellars tangled with Docherty.

The linesman flagged and Docherty was shown straight red for an elbow while the Stirling man was booked.

Miles Hogarth then denied Sellers from adding the third from the spot in 78 minutes with a good save.
