Aug 31 2008 Ally Graham reports
ALLOA piled on the misery for sorry Stranraer with five second-half goals.
Derek Ferguson's skint side missed a first-half penalty then had Steven Nicol sent off before caving in.
Alloa boss Alan Maitland said: "What a strange game.
We got some breaks and were flat throughout the first half.
"We got a goal out of the blue and never looked back."
Alloa started well but missed a host of early chances.
Stranraer crept in to the game and in 28 minutes Nicol was fouled by Chris Townsley but Andy Gibson ballooned his spot-kick over the bar. Nicol was red-carded for a nothing tackle but the 10 men stormed in front when Gregory Tade fired home in 49 minutes.
Kyle Macaulay hammered in an equaliser after 57 minutes and five minutes later Scott Buist headed Alloa in front.
Graeme Brown tapped in a third, Macaulay headed No.4 and Andy Scott added a fifth.
Stunned boss Ferguson said: "It was never a sending-off. We were on top until Alloa scored.
"My players have been told by the committee they can go but none of them want to."
