Second Division Peterhead 1 Alloa 0
BLUE Toon boss Neale Cooper hailed his defence after they helped his side maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
In windy conditions, an early goal from Stuart Anderson, below, was just enough for Peterhead to see off the Wasps.
Cooper said: "We always have a hard game against Alloa so to take three points is really excellent. We're equal top and still unbeaten.
"We defended well and our goalkeeper Michal Kula was fantastic throughout."
The game was just six minutes old when Graeme Sharp sent over a cross to Anderson, whose deflected volley flew past Alloa keeper Raymond Jellema.
The Wasps fought back and John Grant fired over in 12 minutes then Kula saved from Jamie Stevenson.
The second 45 was a scrappy affair as the wind took its toll on the players and Peterhead held out for the points.
Alloa gaffer Allan Maitland said: "In the first half Peterhead were better than us and in the second we were better than them. Neither team deserved to win but Peterhead defended well."
