BRECHIN skipper Darren Smith fired in a late winner to earn City the points in a close encounter.
The first half was evenly contested but City grabbed the lead six minutes before the break when Gary Twigg - making his league debut for the club - rose to head home Charlie King's cross.
Stirling equalised in the 50th minute when an Ian Harty drive took a deflection off David White and went over the line. Keeper Craig Nelson thought he'd kept it out but ref Colin Brown awarded a goal.
City's winner came with five minutes left when Smith cut into the box and unleashed a tremendous right-foot drive beyond the reach of Stirling keeper Myles Hogarth.
