Queen's Park 1-3 Ayr

DELIGHTED Ayr boss Brian Reid hopes his troops will be challenging for promotion next season if they can add some new faces to the squad.

Reid was speaking after watching the Honest Men leapfrog Queen's Park into seventh place with a convincing win.

He said: "That was a good performance and we could have scored more.

"We're looking forward to the summer and if we can add fresh faces to the quality we have then hopefully we'll be challenging next season."

Ryan Stevenson fired home the opener on the stroke of half time.

Nine minutes after the restart it was 2-0 when Alex Williams scored.

Queen's sub Stuart Kettlewell pulled a goal back just after the hour but Williams was on hand to wrap it up with a header in 84 minutes.

Spiders boss Gardner Speirs said: "We got what we deserved. I have no complaints whatsoever."
