Berwick 2-2 Peterhead

NEW boy Fraser McLaren bagged a last-gasp equaliser - but it wasn't enough to stop Berwick dropping down to the Third Division.

Bobby Mann looked to have clinched victory for Peterhead late on with a superb free-kick. However, he turned sinner four minutes from time when he hauled down McLaren, 19, and was sent off.

The new signing from Gretna levelled from the spot but disappointed Berwick manager Michael Renwick admits he is now planning for life in a lower division.

Renwick said: "It was too big an ask for us to take 15 points from the last five games so the aim is now to rebuild and prepare for next season.

"I hope my players continue to do their best for the fans who have had a dismal season."

The Wee Rangers went in front in 52 minutes when Ian Little headed home Paul McMullan's set piece.

Martin Bavidge equalised in 76 minutes with the aid of a post after Steve Istead's shot was cleared off the line.

And Mann put Peterhead ahead in 83 minutes with a superb free-kick from 20 yards only to be sent soon after.

Peterhead boss Neale Cooper said: "A draw keeps us in with a chance of the play-offs.

"Mann was outstanding and is adamant he committed the late foul outside the box."
