DELIGHTED Derek Adams praised his promotion hopefuls' classy display - and insisted revenge spurred his troops on.
The Ross County boss saw his side inch closer to the title after strikes from Andy Barrowman and Marc Gardiner.
And Adams insists the 4-2 midweek loss to the same team made them desperate to make amends.
He said: "The guys were upset by what happened on Tuesday because we could and should have won.
"We're on a good run and the next three games are big ones for us."
County's first real chance came in 29 minutes when a Scott Boyd header was held on the line by keeper Mark McGeown.
The visitors took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Barrowman brought down a long free kick from Alex Keddie and fired home.
And the Dingwall side made the points safe in 69 minutes, when Gardiner tapped in from close range.
Ayr boss Brian Reid said: "Our defending was poor and the goals were cheap efforts. We need to sort out our home form."
