Alloa 2-0 Peterhead

DEJECTED Neale Cooper was left to rue "two minutes of madness" as his battling stars' promotion bid was dealt a huge blow.

The Peterhead boss saw his side fall victim to a quickfire double at the start of the second half and they couldn't recover.

John Grant and Kyle McAuley fired home within 60 seconds of each other to snatch the win for Alloa and leave Cooper gutted.

He said: "Two minutes of madness and two bad mistakes have cost us.

"After a good first-half display we shot ourselves in the foot just after the break and suffered for making simple errors."

Peterhead almost raced in to an early lead when Stuart Smith's free-kick crashed against the bar.

Wasps hit back with a fierce shot from Scott Agnew that fizzed over.

David Ross nearly fired Blue Toon ahead within seconds of the re-start but shot wide with only the keeper to beat.

Athletic went straight up the other end and forced a corner. Agnew's perfect ball picked out Grant to head in the opener.

And Wasps doubled their advantage a minute later as a defensive mix-up allowed McAuley to fire in to an empty net.

Alloa gaffer Allan Maitland said: "This was a magnificent result for us. Every player was excellent so I'm happy."
