Berwick 0-1 Ayr

RYAN STEVENSON hit a last-gasp winner to shatter Berwick's hopes of taking their first point in six matches.

The midfielder cashed in on a Peter Logan error after the fierce wind caused the keeper to make a mess of a punched clearance.

It was a cruel blow for the Berwick No.1 who had kept his side in it with a number of fine saves.

In 15 minutes Gareth Wardlaw homed in on goal but Logan narrowed the angle and blocked the striker's close-range strike.

The keeper did well again minutes later to fingertip a Stevenson effort round the post before holding a fierce shot from Jerome Vereille.

Rangers hit back with Paul McMullan racing up the park before whipping over a dangerous cross that Mark McGeown palmed away.

The keeper then did well to tip over a fierce shot from Keegan Ayre.

With 10 minutes to go Stevenson found the target but ref Stevie O'Reilly spotted a foul on Logan.

Alex Williams had the chance to win it but the Ayr hitman blazed over.

The away side got the crucial goal in 85 minutes when a Stevenson shot was deflected home after Logan mistimed a fisted clearance.
