RAGING Ayr boss Brian Reid slammed his dismal defence after they gifted Brechin their fifth league win on the trot.
Early goals from Kevin Byers and Michael Paton put the away side in cruise control before sub Nicky Walker sealed the win.
Reid said: "It was back to the bad old days and I can't keep putting up with that.
"We're a Jekyll and Hyde team and it's just not good enough. We keep gifting goals to the opposition and Brechin must have thought it was their birthday."
Michael O'Neill's troops raced ahead in 11 minutes through Byers' deflected effort and doubled their lead eight minutes later when Paton bundled the ball in from close range.
Ayr's David Lowing was then sent off on the stroke of half time and Alex Williams missed a penalty before Walker secured victory.
Brechin boss O'Neill said: "We had the potential to slip up here but all credit to the players who showed that we've got goals from all areas of the park."
