Ayr 0 Peterhead 3
BOBBY MANN fired home two penalties in the last minute to dump Ayr and send Peterhead into the top four.
United were left raging at referee Chris Boyle as both awards looked soft and they had skipper Eddie Forrest sent off for protesting.
But Blue Toon boss Neale Cooper would have felt his side deserved their win as Ayr misfired badly without suspended star man Ryan Stevenson.
Peterhead could have taken the lead in nine minutes but Graeme Sharp's shot smashed into the side-netting.
Donny Munro and Stuart McKay went close for the away team while the Honest Men's Alex Williams saw an effort blocked by keeper Michal Kula.
Peterhead bagged the opener just before half-time when Callum MacDonald rose at the back post to head home a corner from Stuart Smith.
Ayr sub Colin Marshall cleared off the line from MacDonald after the interval.
In the final minute Murray Henderson was penalised for a challenge in the box on Mann who rifled home the resulting penalty.
Thirty seconds later Henderson was again judged the culprit as McKay tumbled and Mann netted again from the spot.
Forrest was then shown a straight red card as Ayr's day ended in misery.
