Brechin 3-1 Peterhead

VETERAN Charlie King was the two-goal hero as Brechin bounced back from last week's disappointing home defeat.

City pressed from the outset and opened the scoring in 10 minutes with a well-worked goal.

Gary Fusco collected the ball in the middle of the park and played a quick forward pass to King, who in turn slipped the ball through to Michael Paton.

The on-loan Aberdeen striker calmly tucked the ball home for his first goal for the club.

Brechin kept up the pressure and scored a magnificent second in 36 minutes.

John Ward hoisted a cross into the Blue Toon area and midfielder King showed superb skill to bring the ball down and turn his man before shooting beyond Michal Kula.

Brechin continued in the driving seat after the interval and went further ahead in 58 minutes.

A long ball was headed down by Paton into the path of King, who hammered home his shot.

Peterhead gave themselves some hope in 71 minutes when Bobby Mann scored with a penalty after David White had handled but City held on for a well-deserved victory.
