Peterhead 9 Berwick 2
BEAMING Neale Cooper branded his side's nine goal demolition as 'frightening' and thanked his red hot stars for a debut to remember.
The Peterhead boss couldn't hide his delight after watching his men romp to a stunning win.
He said: "It was frightening today. I told the players to go and enjoy it and the fullbacks to push on - they did that.
"Even when we conceded the equaliser, I didn't worry about it as I knew it would be exciting and so it proved.
"It was great to watch and I've got to thank the players. Although we won't get many results like that, the boys have set a standard in terms of display and shows the quality is there."
The Blue Toon stormed into the lead when Martin Bavidge fired home in nine minutes.
Iain Diack found Berwick's reply five minutes later when he netted to square the game.
Bavidge then grabbed his second in 19 minutes and Robert Mann hit home the third.
And the result was put beyond doubt when Stuart McKay found the net in 25 minutes.
Callum McDonald scored the fifth before the break with Graham Sharp also netting.
McKay hit his second soon after before Robbie Henderson saw red for Berwick.
Rory McAllister made it eight before Diack's reply and McKay wrapped up his hat-trick late on.
Berwick gaffer Michael Renwick said: "That was simply embarrassing and the display was totally unacceptable."
