AIRDRIE boss Kenny Black last night hailed teenage super-sub Kevin Watt after his deadly double punished 10-man Peterhead.
The 19-year-old only came on with 14 minutes left but that was plenty of time for the youngster to sink Steve Paterson's side.
Boss Black said: "He's an infectious character who just loves playing football. He's an absolute breath of fresh air. Wewere needing a spark and he gave us that.
"The fans were trying to encourage him to get the hat-trick but I was just as pleased to keep the clean sheet."
The hosts shaded this one throughout and should have gone ahead on 29 minutes when Allan Russell struck the base of the post.
On 36 minutes their midfield ace Marco Andreoni also hit the woodwork, firing against the same post.
Peterhead were reduced to 10 men on 66 minutes when Steven Istead was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Mark Smyth.
And on 80 minutes they paid the price when Watt swept home from 12 yards. The and youngster capped that strike by coolly rounding Michael Kula on 87 minutes and slotting home to seal the points for his side.
Peterhead gaffer Paterson was left unimpressed with referee Anthony Law.
He said: "Their player Smyth was lucky to stay on the park. He elbowed Rory McAllister. If a linesman had seen it we would have had the advantage.
"The sending off cost us dearly.
That was the turning point as until then I thought we'd get a draw."
