Ross County 2-0 Airdrie

First Division Ross County 2 Airdrie 0

RAGING Airdrie boss Kenny Black blasted his dozy defenders after their errors helped classy County take the points.

The Dingwall side won thanks to Marc Smith's unfortunate own goal and Stevie Craig's late strike.

Black fumed: "If you defend the way we did you can't expect to take anything.

"Offensively we were better in the second half but lacked a cutting edge.

"We defended poorly the entire game and when you do that you'll find that you always struggle."

County took the lead in 10 minutes when Airdrie defender Smith turned a Mark McCulloch cross into his own net.

Dyron Daal missed a chance to add a second in 38 minutes after good work from Alex Keddie but the Dutchman fired weakly at Stephen Robertson.

County started the second half on the front foot but Airdrie should have had a penalty in 54 minutes when Scott Boyd tugged Stuart Noble's shirt in the box.

The Diamonds were looking dangerous on the break and Steven McDougall tested Tony Bullock with a long-range effort.

The play was swinging from end to end and Keddie's deep cross was just missed by Craig six yards out. But Craig made amends in 77 minutes when his shot was deflected into the net from 18 yards.

The best of the late chances fell to County but Martin Scott and Sean Higgins had efforts saved.

Beaming County gaffer Derek Adams said: "It was good to get a positive result and clean sheet. It could have been more."
