Livi hope to land striker

LIVINGSTON gaffer Roberto Landi hopes a new striker will be the final piece in his Almondvale jigsaw - but has backed off a move for Hearts forward Calum Elliot.

The Italian has brought a raft of new faces in this summer as the First Division club's new owners seek promotion to the SPL.

A striker is his last target and a loan move for Elliot looked on the cards with the Scotland U-21 out of favour in Gorgie and looking to kick-start his career elsewhere.

But Landi said:"Weare looking for a striker but the player has to have the characteristics I want.

"I want to be 100 per cent sure and I'm not sure about Elliot now.

"I get offered strikers every day and if there is a good deal we are ready to go for it."
