MARK BROWN was the hero for the Bully Wee when he headed home a stoppage-time equaliser against 10-man Morton.
The opening 45 minutes was largely uneventful with no real goal-scoring chances being created by either side.
However, with just four minutes left of the first half ex-Liverpool striker Jon Newby pounced to put Ton in front.
He found himself clean through on goal and his first effort was pushed away by Clyde keeper David Hutton but Newby seized on the rebound to squeeze the ball into the net much to the delight of the travelling support.
Morton almost added to their lead eight minutes into the second half when Jim McAlister let fly but his shot hit the side netting.
The pace of the tie increased and this resulted in some late challenges, with Ton's Erik Paartalu being shown a yellow card for a high tackle on Neil McGregor in 59 minutes.
Just a minute later Clyde's Chris Higgins was also shown a yellow card for scything down Morton front man Brian Wake directly in front of the referee.
McAlister again tried his luck, this time from distance, but his effort zipped over the bar.
Ton looked to be heading towards three points but suffered a blow when Wake was shown a second yellow card for a clumsy tackle on Brown in 87 minutes.
And the Bully Wee made them pay with a last-gasp leveller.
Willie McLaren's corner hung in the air and Brown climbed on top of McGregor to head the ball down into the turf and into the net.
