Saints' SPL gamble

GEOFF BROWN admits he has taken a huge cash gamble to end St Johnstone's seven-year SPL exile.

Saints, helped by reaching three cup finals in the last two seasons, have splashed out on Jody Morris, Liam Craig, Collin Samuel, Euan McLean, Gavin Swankie and Chris Millar this summer.

Chairman Brown said: "There is a big risk but it's worth it. The total wage bill will be more than we earn during a normal season but the cup runs have generated extra cash."
