Clyde 3-2 Livingston

GOAL hero Ruari MacLennan said Jorg Albertz was the inspiration behind the stunning strike that led to Clyde's first home win since December.

Pat Clarke gave the Bully Wee an early lead and MacLennan struck a superb second only for Steven Weir to pull one back before half-time.

MacLennan grabbed his second and Clyde's third soon after the restart and they held on despite Mark Tinkler's deflected effort for Livi.

It was a crucial victory for the Broadwood side as it took them three points clear of relegation rivals Morton and MacLennan claimed he owed his wonder goal to "Der Hammer".

He said: "That was a big win and is probably the best I have played and the best the team has played this season.

"For my first goal I just struck across it and it just happened to go on. I practice them in training and more than often they don't. But Jorg has been training with us on Fridays so perhaps it's his influence rubbing off."

Clyde took the lead in 19 minutes when Gary McSwegan raced clear and although his effort was parried well by Colin Stewart, Clarke was on hand to sweep home the rebound into an empty net.

Within five minutes it was 2-0 thanks to MacLennan's cracker.

David McKay raced to the bye-line and cut the ball back to the edge of the box where MacLennan dispatched a brilliant first-time thunderbolt into the bottom corner.

Livi hit back just before the half hour when Weir expertly glanced home a Robert Snodgrass cross but their good work was undone within three minutes of the restart.

Clarke's clever, lofted ball sent MacLennan clear on the right and the 20-year-old homed in on goal before slipping the ball under Stewart.

Livi then rattled the woodwork twice in quick succession - Snodgrass struck the top of the post with a wonderful, curling effort before Dave MacKay rattled the base with his low drive.

They did pull one back when Tinkler's 40-yarder took a wicked deflection to sail past Clyde keeper David Hutton.

But the closest they came to an equaliser was a header from Stewart which went over after the goalie went up for a corner in injury-time.

Livi boss Mark Proctor said: "We had a five-minute kamikaze period in the first half and the third goal just after half-time was really poor."
