Stirling 1 Partick Thistle 0

STIRLING Albion boss Allan Moore insists his troops can avoid relegation after their second victory on the trot.

Brian Allison headed the winner in the first half and the Binos survived a Jags onslaught to hold on.

Moore beamed: "We have to believe we can get off the bottom. If we had lost to Clyde last week it would have been an uphill struggle but the two wins have given us belief and I have players who can battle.

"We fought to get into the First Division against the odds. It's a hard task, but other teams are dropping points and we can take advantage."

Albion grabbed the lead against the run of play after 13 minutes. Allison took advantage of some terrible defending to head home Chris Aitken's pinpoint corner. Jags threatened to get the equaliser and Paul Keegan's header smacked a post on 18 minutes.

Stirling's Aitken came close with a 30-yard free-kick that went over.

Albion burst out the traps after the interval and Nathan Taggart screwed a low shot inches wide in 55 minutes. Moments laterAitken blazed just over from long range. Simon Donnelly should have drawn the Jags level in 59 minutes but his snap shot flew well wide.

Jon Tuffey denied Stirling a second with moments to go when he brilliantly tipped Aitken's deflected shot over the bar.

Partick assistant manager Gerry Britton said: "Every defeat is disappointing, especially when we felt we were capable of a win."
