LUCKY Mark Singer and Robert Paton thought nothing could top the day they led out their teams as club mascots.
But yesterday's Hampden showpiece eclipsed even that for the delighted young Queen of the South and Rangers fans.
Doonhamer Mark and Gers-daft Robert won our superb competition to be official crest bearers at the Scottish Cup Final.
They were two of eight kids chosen to carry the clubs' giant badges ahead of the big game.
And the lucky duo savoured the moment as they walked on to the hallowed turf of the packed National Stadium five minutes before kick-off.
Mark from East Lothian, who had proud mum Susan and dad Paul in the stand, said: "I was Queen of the South mascot when we played Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup five years ago.
"It was remembered for being Andy Goram's last game for the club but my memory is of kicking the ball round the pitch with Derek Lyle beforehand.
"To be honest I didn't think anything would have been able to top that day.
"But it was even better at Hampden yesterday because it doesn't get any bigger than walking out at Queens' first ever Scottish Cup Final."
Fellow winner, Light Blue supporter Robert from Renfrew, said: "I was mascot for a game against Dunfermline at East End Pak but nothing compares to this.
"It was great to get so close to all the players and see my favourite, Carlos Cuellar. It's a day I won't forget.
"I was so excited I couldn't sleep the night before - it was a bit like Christmas Eve - but well worth it.
"The day was made even better by the fact linesman John Gilmour is a family relative so it was funny I got to walk out before him."
