I SAT down on Tuesday night in the house to watch the Holland v Romania game and half-an-hour before kick-off my TV exploded.
I suppose it was a warning for what was to come that evening as both games were terrific.
I managed to watch all the action unfold in my neighbour's house on the split screen. Holland blew away any conspiracy theory chat by winning and Italy played well to beat France in a game shrouded in controversy.
Raymond Domenech may not have been happy with Eric Abidal's red card for fouling Luca Toni but I think the referee was right.
If there has to be criticism from that night then it should be aimed at Domenech for his decisions during the game.
Down to 10 men and needing to score at least two goals he should have made more positive changes instead of continuing with two holding midfielders and a back four.
France got exactly what they deserved in my opinion.
