CLARENCE SEEDORF is not in the Holland squad after telling Marco van Basten he didn't want to be considered for selection.

The pair have not seen eye to eye for two years and Seedorf has been treated poorly. The coach reckons he doesn't play for the team.

The midfielder is one of the most successful players we've had in Holland yet he was being put on as a sub late in games by van Basten.

That's not the way to treat such a respected and gifted footballer.

Seedorf thought long and hard before pulling out and I agree with his decision. The only surprise is he didn't make it sooner.

But I hope we don't live to regret the way we have treated him.
