DAVID CLARKSON admits he'd love to team up with pal Ross McCormack as Scotland go up against the superstars of Argentina.
The 23-year-old Motherwell hitman made his international debut alongside his former Fir Park strike partner in May and scored against the Czechs in Prague. They've been reunited by Scots gaffer George Burley for Wednesday night's glamour friendly as a result of McCormack's stunning form for new club Cardiff.
Clarkson isn't surprised 22-year-old Ross (far left) has been a revelation in England and compared him to another ex-Well frontman James McFadden. He said: "It'll be good to catch up with Ross again. We had a great spell together at Well and he's flying now at Cardiff.
"I'm glad he's in the squad again as we both made our debuts against the Czech Republic.
"His game is short and sharp and has tricks in his bag. We've missed that at Motherwell. He gave us flair and also scored a lot of goals from free-kicks.
"It's not my decision if he should play on Wednesday but he has scored 11 goals already this season in the Championship and deserves his call-up.
"I'mnot surprised at how well he has started in England. I played with him for a few years and even in training he was excellent. I also played with Faddy at Motherwell and they are similar types, they both like to go past people.
"Ross's confidence is even higher now because of the start he's made at Cardiff and there's no doubting how good a player he is."
Clarkson (left) has already played in a cup final for Motherwell but says the midweek clash with Diego Maradona's side will be the biggest game he has ever been involved in.
And he'd love to keep up his 100 per cent scoring record for his country against the South Americans.
He said: "My goals per game ratio for Scotland isn't bad is it? I wish it was the same for my club!
"It would be great to be involved on Wednesday but I'm just delighted to be in the squad because at the start of the year I would never have imagined myself being in this position.
"Even though it's a friendly this will be the biggest game I have ever been involved in because of the quality of the opposition and glamour surrounding the match."
