DEADLY Angelos Charisteas bagged a double to help leaders Greece hammer Moldova 3-0.
Charisteas put the Greeks ahead when he got himself in to a good position in the penalty area before slotting home. Costas Katsouranis made it two soon after.
And Charisteas smashed home his second when he picked up the ball just outside Moldova's box after a slip by Radu Rebeja.
Swiss striker Blaise Kufo nodded home a 72nd-minute winner to help his countrymen beat 10-man Latvia 2-1.
The Latvians fought bravely after Juris Laizans was sent off for a second bookable offence and Deniss Ivanovs managed to cancel out Alex Frei's 63rd-minute opener.
But it was FC Twente hitman Kufo who made the difference when he managed to get on the end of Frei's curling free-kick.
Meanwhile, Yossi Benayoun fired home a second-minute penalty to send Israel on their way to a 3-1 victory over Luxembourg.
The amateurs from Luxembourg equalised the game in 14 minutes when captain Rene Peters found the net with a lovely free-kick.
But Israel got their noses back in front thanks to Omer Golan's strike just after the hour mark.
And Salim Toama put the seal on their win when he slotted home with just eight minutes remaining. The result helps the Israelis stay in second spot.
