Demons don't scare me, says SFA chief Gordon Smith

GORDON SMITH wants Scotland's next World Cup qualifier to take place in Amsterdam so we can exorcise the demons of our last visit.

Berti Vogts' men were mauled 6-0 by rampant Holland there in the second leg of their Euro 2004 play-off, crashing 6-1 on aggregate.

Scotland will face the Dutch in March next year - a match they must take something from after their 0-0 draw with Norway - and Holland will decide this month where it will be held.

Smith said: "Maybe they would want to go back and exorcise that demon rather than being fearful of returning.

"My memories are not good of that 6-0 game.

"We won't have a say in where it will be played but the Ajax Arena is a fantastic stadium."
