Kris: Norway win is must

KRIS COMMONS has admitted the World Cup dream will be all over if Scotland fail to defeat Norway next month at Hampden.

George Burley's men have three points from their first two group matches and need another win to put them in a good position to qualify.

Commons gave a good showing in the last two games against Macedonia and Iceland and hopes to get the chance to play a competitive match at Hampden.

The Derby County winger said: "The three points from the Iceland game won't matter if we fail to beat Norway. We are confident after beating Iceland."

Commons (right) has been impressed with Burley and enjoys being given a role in the manager's attacking style of play.

He said: "I played wide right against Iceland. I prefer wide left but Shaun Maloney played there.

"We just wanted to put Iceland under as much pressure as possible because we didn't feel they were great defensively.

"George told us to get our heads down and attack and squeeze the game high up the park. Clearly the tactics worked.

"I'm enjoying the whole international experience and I hope to keep playing for Scotland. I also want to play well in the 40 games for Derby this season.

"We're trying to get back into the Premiership. We would be delighted to get there even if it's through the play-off system.

"We have other Scottish lads in our side such as Stephen Pearson and Jay McEveley and we all want to perform for Derby to get international recognition.

"I will keep working hard and try to stay fit.

"Things have been going pretty great and it's up to me to keep it all going."
