CRAIG GORDON insists George Burley is the man to drum the kind of arrogance into Scotland they will need to reach the World Cup.
The new boss got off to a solid start with a debut draw against Croatia in midweek.
Now Gordon, 25, reckons his former Hearts gaffer will take them the next step - by making them believe they're as good as Slaven Bilic's side.
The Scots keeper said: "At Hearts, George wanted everyone to believe they were talented players and we were a good team.
"He wanted us to have the bit of arrogance sides like Croatia have when they're on the ball - knowing they can keep it and make chances.
"He wants everyone to believe, attack and get goals."
It's a philosophy that will appeal to the Tartan Army as progress from the safety first successes of Walter Smith and Alex McLeish.
And although Gordon is adamant it won't be gung-ho he believes Burley's agenda can move us up the rankings.
He said: "What you saw against Croatia is typical of a Burley side - he is attack minded.
"There were times when we had to defend because the Croatians are quality and keep the ball.
"So we have to be as resolute as in previous years but when we have possession the gaffer wants us in the box.
"He wants everyone to get on the ball and go into areas where we can hurt sides.
"I'm sure that's what we'll start building towards for the qualifying campaign."
