ALEX McLEISH has told George Burley the feeling he'll get walking out at Hampden for the first time as Scotland manager will be like nothing he has ever experienced in football.
The Birmingham gaffer has revealed the overwhelming pride that washed over him when leading out the national side for his debut a year ago.
McLeish - who won 77 caps - got off to a flier by beating Georgia 2-1 in a vital Euro 2008 qualifier.
Just 12 months on Burley makes his bow in the friendly against Croatia a week on Wednesday and Eck (left) said: "It seemed we had an awful long time to wait for our first game and that added to the excitement for me.
"I remember being anxious but the Hampden crowd responded brilliantly.
"Kris Boyd put us ahead then Shota Arveladze equalised but Craig Beattie popped up with the winner.
"I look back on my time with Scotland as a privilege. That first game was every bit as big a thrill as my first cap and it will be the same for George against Croatia.
"I spoke to him recently and he is so proud to get this chance."
