Our Coaching Is Brazil-Iant

BRAZIL may leave us standing when it comes to breeding brilliance on the park - but Neil Mackintosh admitted they're jealous of our coaching set-up.

The SFA's youth supremo was given VIP treatment at three of Brazil's top clubs.

And while their youth set-up blew Mackintosh away he said: "The coaching is different.

"They have one course and it lasts two weeks. That's it. When I was out there Romario got a job coaching Corinthians Under-17s after having just knocked out his two-week course.

"They have a real issue with this because they don't have the background or education to be youth coaches. Despite Sao Paulo's size - they're like the Man United of Brazil - it was noticeable.

"All their staff are ex-players and the coaching is poor - they really like our structure from the youth side right up to the Pro Licence.

"But they don't think it would ever take off over there because no one would believe they had to dedicate that amount of time."
