Soti Gives Diego Rude Awakening

Germany

FORMER Rangers defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos helped his old club's UEFA Cup preparations yesterday by getting Werder Bremen dangerman Diego sent off.

The Brazilian playmaker was sent packing for lashing out at the big defender as Kyrgiakos' Eintracht Frankfurt side ground out a 1-0 win.

Diego could now be banned for three games ahead of the last-16 clash at Ibrox on March 6. But he was furious with Kyrgiakos and claimed he reacted after the Greek stopper swore at him.

He said: "Kyrgiakos told me to get up and told me what I should do to myself using an English obscenity. I lost control."

Another Greek, Ioannis Amanatidis, bagged the winner for Frankfurt in 56 minutes and leaders Bayern Munich can move six points clear of Bremen with a win against Hamburg today.

Leverkusen moved up to third after defender Manuel Friedrich sealed a 1-0 win over Schalke. They are now just two points behind Werder.
