JERMAIN DEFOE destroyed Everton with a dazzling double and clever assist as Portsmouth finally got off the mark.

Harry Redknapp's men arrived on Merseyside looking to end a run of six league defeats and made a perfect start.

Peter Crouch flicked on and Defoe shot in before celebrating with Armand Traore whose throw had started the move.

Defoe set up a second for Glen Johnson and he chipped in a third after David James had saved Yakubu's penalty.
