WEST BROM gaffer Tony Mowbray hailed his side for withstanding a Bolton "bombardment" to bag their first point of the season.
The Baggies bossed the first half and only a great save from Jussi Jaaskelainen denied them the lead after James Morrison curled in a shot from 25-yards.
It was a different story after half-time and it took a brilliant save from Scott Carson to deny Riga Mustapha.
Bolton also saw Kevin Davies have two goals ruled out for offside while West Brom could also have won it when Do-Heon Kim's shot bounced off the bar on to the line with Jaaskelainen saving Ishmael Miller's follow-up.
Mowbray was delighted his side didn't wilt. He said: "The pleasing thing was we stood up to the bombardment. Bolton are a physical team. There's a bit of intimidation and a lot of balls into your box."
Bolton boss Gary Megson said: "We'd most of the pressure and dominated after half-time."
