Eagles hit drowns out the Chiefs

CHRIS EAGLES grabbed a second-half goal as Manchester United battled back to snatch a 1-1 draw with South African club Kaizer Chiefs.

The 22-year-old fringe player handed United a share of the spoilswith a 59th minute header in the Vodacom Challenge in Cape Town.

Eagles levelled after Jonathan Quartey had put Chiefs ahead from the spot in 37 minutes.

Meanwhile, United's Premiership rivals Arsenal also came from behind but managed to go a step further with a 2-1 win at neighbours Barnet.

Arsene Wenger fielded a reserve team in the Gunners' first pre-season friendly.

But the Frenchman's decision to give his top stars a rest appeared to backfire after just 15 minutes when Kenny Gillet netted from the free-kick.

Arsenal sub Jack Wilshere made an immediate impact, starting the moves that led to the away side's goals.

Jay Simpson levelled after 63 minutes before Nacer Barazite grabbed the winner with a shot off the post 10 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Everton were given a 4-2 gubbing away to Cambridge United.

A superb double from Andrew Parkinson and strikes by Robbie Wilmott and Mark Beesley gave the home side a well-deserved win.

Toffees youngster Lukas Jutkiewicz scored both Everton's goals.
