Giggs Set To Meet Sir Bobby's Record

WING wizard Ryan Giggs came off the bench to help Manchester United ease to victory yesterday and the Welshman is now just one game away from equalling Bobby Charlton's appearance record of 758.

And the 34-year-old will surpass that mark if he features in the last-day league clash at Wigan next Sunday and in the Champions League Final later this month.

But Giggs was keen to play down talk of what would be a historic individual achievement.

He said: "It would mean more to win the Champions League and the Premier League.

"Personal records are things to look back on after your career is over. It would be a proud moment but the main thing now is winning trophies."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hinted Giggs could well break Sir Bobby's record in Moscow. He said: "Ryan has a great chance of playing."
