KEVIN KEEGAN heaped praise on his sharp-shooting strike force as the Magpies chalked up a third successive league victory.
Multi-million pound hitmen Obafemi Martins, Michael Owen and Mark Viduka were all on target as Newcastle continued their revival.
Keegan said: "Michael is a very clever player, Obafemi has great composure and Mark scored after some great play.
"You'd like to think we are at the start of something that can be good again."
Reading remain near the drop zone and boss Steve Coppell said: "We didn't have a cutting edge.
But with five games to go we still control our destiny."
