ASTON VILLA boss Martin O'Neill breathed a huge sigh of relief as his side ended their mini slump.
Skipper Gareth Barry struck twice and Gabriel Agbonlahor and Marlon Harewood were also on target as Villa bounced back from three successive defeats.
O'Neill said: "We had been scoring freely but hit the buffers recently.
The first goal was crucial and after that our confidence came back."
Bolton stay in the bottom three and boss Gary Megson groaned: "We fell apart after they scored their second goal.
We are on an awful run but no one is giving up."
