PAUL JEWELL admitted Derby weren't fit to grace the Premier League but vowed to return better prepared next year.

The Pride Park club were relegated after failing to beat Fulham and Jewell, who replaced Billy Davies halfway through the season, said: "We have been embarrassed this year, there is no doubt about it.

"But we will be back and we will be competitive."

The Rams went down fighting as Emanuel Villa grabbed a 79th-minute equaliser after Hameur Bouazza's effort was set to hand Fulham a first away win.

Villa's opener was cancelled out by Diomansy Kamara.
