MAURO ZARATE hit a double as Alex McLeish put one over Sven Goran Eriksson's side.

The Argentine striker (left), on loan from Qatar club Al Sadd, hit his first in 39 minutes with a cool lob and then doubled the lead after 54 minutes.

Franck Queudrue was red-carded for fouling Benjani and Elano scored from the spot but Gary McSheffrey sealed Brum's win with a late penalty after being pushed.

McLeish said: "I spotted Zarate when I was Scotland boss and would love to sign him but his club want £15m."
