Derby 0-0 Sunderland

SUNDERLAND were denied their first away win of the season when a Michael Chopra goal was chalked off by referee Mike Riley.

The striker thought he had put Roy Keane's men ahead after 34 minutes but his effort was ruled out by the referee for offside - despite TV replays suggesting he was level.

The draw with the Premiership's bottom dogs at least ensured the Black Cats avoided a club record 11th consecutive away defeat.

Boss Keane said: "We had the best chances and should have won.

We did score but it was taken out of our hands by the officials. We knew at the time Chopra was onside."
